Wine School Is in Session at Track 15

The Providence food hall's new Sip & Learn series explores Napa Valley, France, and Italy through guided tastings, expert insight, and a few good pours

A wine label can tell you where a bottle comes from, but understanding why it tastes the way it does takes a little more exploring. Luckily, Track 15 is bringing the wine education to Providence, where the lesson comes with four pours, expert guidance, and a chance to discover a new favorite.

The downtown food hall is launching Sip & Learn, a three-part tasting series that gives guests a closer look at the wines of Napa Valley, France, and Piedmont, Italy. Each $50 session includes four specially selected wines, a mix of reds and whites, and light bites to cleanse the palate between pours.

Leading the tastings are sommelier Hoyt Scarff and Track 15 wine expert Zach Brisson, who will help guests explore what makes each wine distinctive. They'll break down tasting notes, regional traditions, and how factors like climate and geography influence what's in the glass. For anyone who knows what they like but isn't quite sure why, it's an opportunity to put a little knowledge behind those preferences.

The series begins Thursday, November 12, with Napa Valley, before turning its attention to France on Thursday, December 3. Piedmont, Italy, rounds out the lineup on Wednesday, December 16, giving guests three opportunities to explore different wine regions. Each tasting begins at 6 PM.

The experience doesn't have to end with the final pour, either. Each ticket includes a 15 percent discount on dining at Track 15 that evening, where seven Rhode Island restaurant concepts offer plenty of options for dinner. Guests who discover a wine worth revisiting can also purchase up to two bottles of featured selections at special event-only prices.

Housed inside Providence's historic Union Station, Track 15 makes an interesting setting for a little wine education, especially when dinner is just steps away. Guests can choose the region that interests them most or return for another tasting to see how the wines compare. For tickets and additional information, visit track15ri.com.
