The Blackstone Valley Pirate Faire Takes the Treasure Hunt Onto the River

The new family-friendly event brings pirate characters, live entertainment, and a 45-minute boat adventure to Central Falls over two October weekends

Posted

Central Falls is getting a temporary pirate problem this October, and families are encouraged to dress accordingly. The Blackstone Valley Pirate Faire is a new Halloween-season event from the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council that turns an afternoon at Central Falls Landing into a roughly 90-minute pirate adventure. It starts on shore with activities and a live show before the story moves aboard the Explorer and onto the Blackstone River. Trips run October 17, 18, 24, and 25.

Before anyone sets sail, guests can join pirate activities and meet the colorful characters working the landing. Then the Explorer heads upriver for a 45-minute cruise with one fairly important problem to solve: Captain Blackstone’s treasure has gone missing. Passengers who help track it down can collect a reward, and admission includes several giveaways along the way.

The mood stays firmly on the playful side of Halloween, with mystery, music, family-friendly mayhem, and what organizers openly promise will include a few bad jokes. The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council is building on its experience with Blackstone Valley Polar Express and Pirates of the Blackstone, but this outing puts younger crews in the middle of the action rather than keeping them in the audience.

Costumes are encouraged, which gives pirate hats, eye patches, striped shirts, and any other seaworthy finds in the costume bin a reason to come out before October 31. Visitors of all ages are welcome. For trip times, tickets, and more information, visit BVTCRI.org/pirates.
