Dress your dog for summer with fun accessories from two local makers

Posted

Warmer weather means pulling out those shorts and sandals, but what about a wardrobe change for your pet? Alice Nichols of East Providence’s Up Country has been creating dog collars since 1984, and has gone from six to 120 original designs, plus other accessories. Newer to the scene is Melanie Wolfe of Bristol’s Wolfe & Hound Company, who has been creating distinctive dog bandanas since 2017. She prides herself on attention to detail, polishing off each bandana with a wooden logo button sewn on by hand and has her handsome rescue pup Arlo model her collections. Both businesses also make a “pawsitive” impact on animals in need: with each bandana sold, Wolfe & Hound Company donates one to a shelter dog, and Up Country donates a leash and collar to every animal adopted through RISPCA.
